2/14:Green Bay Packers running back Ty Montgomery may be moving back to wide receiver. Montgomery played receiver in college and started his NFL career at the position before transitioning to running back in 2016 following a rash of injuries at the position. Montgomery has been effective at running back, but his durability has been problematic, although he struggled with injuries at receiver as well. This year, Green Bay is returning with depth at the position, with Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams both having demonstrated that they can be capable players. Montgomery is a more explosive runner than Williams, better in pass protection than Jones and is a better receiver than both. Still, Jones figures to see a good deal of action next year, which will limit Montgomery’s snaps. In response, Montgomery may be moved back to receiver, working primarily out of the slot. Montgomery has shown to be a better running back than wide receiver, but any move that increases his touches would be a positive one. The ideal situation would be if Montgomery maintains the starting running back job. How this entire situation plays out will largely determine Montgomery’s value going forward, and it will be worth keeping an eye on.--Tyger McGuiggan - RotoBaller
