John Hunter Nemechek of Legacy Motor Club qualified 29th for Sunday's Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. This is Nemechek's lowest starting position at Homestead since his first race at the site back in 2019. In four previous starts at Homestead, Nemechek has one top-20 finish and one finish with positive Place Differential scored. In 33 races completed this season, Nemechek has seven top-20 finishes and an average finish of 25.4. At 1.5-mile Intermediate tracks this year, Nemechek has been boom-or-bust with two finishes of 13th or better but also three finishes of 30th or worse at the track type. In practice, Nemechek ranked 31st in overall lap averages while only ranking among the top 20 fastest in 30 consecutive lap averages (18th). Despite his starting position offering plenty of upside, Nemechek is only a contrarian play who can be used in any format at best with his inconsistent results at both Homestead and Intermediate tracks this season.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller
