Scott Barlow Records His Second Two-Inning Save
Scott Barlow became the first player to record two six-out saves this season on Thursday when he closed out the team's 6-5 win over the Minnesota Twins. Barlow pitched the eighth and ninth innings and allowed one walk, no hits and no runs while striking out two. The save was his second of the year. His first came back on April 15. The Royals have now had three different relievers record exactly one save over the past 10 days: Kyle Zimmer, Greg Holland and Barlow. Royals manager Mike Matheny seems to prefer Barlow in a flex type of role, so it might be more likely that we see Holland or Zimmer out for the next opportunity. Holland has the most recent save other than Barlow's, so he's probably the favorite, but it could be a committee type of situation until Josh Staumont (knee) returns from the injured list.
