Colorado Avalanche defenseman Samuel Girard picked up two assists during a 3-2 win over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night. Girard saw an extended role with Tyson Barrie (undisclosed) out of the lineup. The 20-year-old rearguard saw 20:05 of ice time in the contest. Girard is a skilled puck mover that is capable of leading a rush up the ice. He has shown an offensive poise far beyond his years as this is only his second season. Girard generally plays on the second power-play unit, but with Barrie out, he has even more exposure to Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen. The increased role makes him an enticing DFS play if Barrie remains absent for Wednesday's game. In season-long formats, Girard is a depth option in deeper leagues. With that in mind, he will become a reliable fantasy piece in the coming seasons.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBaller
