Sam Stevens Looking To Get Back Into Form At Valspar Championship
Sam Stevens shot a two-over 74 on Thursday at The PLAYERS and was unable to make up ground on Friday, ultimately missing the cut by two strokes. This marks his second missed cut in his last three starts, and this week may not be any easier for Stevens, who has recorded a T64 and a missed cut at the Valspar Championship in his two previous trips. To turn around his luck at Copperhead, he will need to be precise from tee to green and sharp with his short game. Stevens currently ranks 62nd in strokes gained from tee to green (0.330 per round), 98th in approach (0.005), 118th around the green (minus-0.086), and 108th in putting (minus-0.067). However, he does rank in the 76th percentile for proximity from 150-200 yards over the past 12 months, a range that accounted for 37% of all approach shots here last year. Given his recent form and lack of success at this course, fantasy managers should weigh their options before committing to his $7,300 price tag on DraftKings.
