1 year agoDetroit Lions rookie tight end Sam LaPorta has shown instincts and feel for the game early on and had an impressive spring during organized team activities and minicamp. He's expected to play a big role right away and will be an important weapon in Detroit's aerial attack in 2023. LaPorta has the ability to line up both in line and out wide, which gives the Lions some roster flexibility. The 22-year-old showed his ability to separate from defenders this offseason while being a reliable target for quarterback Jared Goff, and he was particularly lethal in the red zone. LaPorta is smart and savvy, but playing the TE position as a rookie is an extremely tough adjustment that usually takes time. With that said, the second-rounder could struggle to put up fantasy relevant numbers immediately, and he'll no doubt be a secondary target to some of the team's other playmakers on offense.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
