Russell Wilson Won't Play In Week 7, Brett Rypien To Start
2 years agoDenver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson (hamstring) will be held out of the Week 7 game against the New York Jets to allow him to heal and prevent a lingering injury, according to sources. The nine-time Pro Bowler wanted to play and did everything he could to be ready for Sunday, but head coach Nathaniel Hackett wants to play it safe. Brett Rypien will make his second career start this weekend. It's more bad news for a Broncos offense that ranks dead last in points per game (15.2) through six weeks. The 33-year-old Wilson hasn't looked like himself at all, throwing for 1,442 yards and only five touchdowns in six games. With Rypien now under center for at least this week, fantasy managers need to downgrade all of Denver's offensive skill players, mainly receiver Courtland Sutton.
