Once again, Ross Chastain snatched defeat from the jaws of victory as his 25th-place finish marks yet another instance this year where he finished much worse than he ran, but in a race where all three of the principal bubble drivers spun out, he did overtake Bubba Wallace by a single point for the final transfer spot. That one point came down to the final overtime restart when Chastain passed Wallace to become the highest finisher one lap down after spinning out to trigger the final caution, but ultimately, Michigan was still something of a missed opportunity as Chastain ran in the top 10 for almost the entire race until a gamble for Stage points did earn him a second-place finish in Stage 2 but hurt his overall run even before the spinout. He ended up being fortunate that Wallace had even worse luck.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller
