Roman Anthony Expected to Hit Leadoff Going Forward
Roman Anthony is expected to serve as the team's leadoff man going forward, according to manager Alex Cora. Anthony is in the leadoff spot for the second straight day in Monday's series opener against the Minnesota Twins and right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson at Target Field. It will surely raise the fantasy ceiling of the top prospect in baseball in the month two months of the regular season. The 21-year-old former second-rounder in 2022 hasn't really done anything to raise eyebrows in his first 40 big-league games, as he's gone 36-for-135 (.267) with two home runs, 16 RBI, 22 runs scored and two steals. However, Anthony has picked things up in July and is batting .315 (23-for-73) with a homer, 10 RBI and a steal in 21 games during the month. Jarren Duran has dropped down to the three-hole with Anthony in the leadoff spot.
