Robinson Cano Activated From Injured List
New York Mets second baseman Robinson Cano will rejoin the team’s starting lineup as the designated hitter for Friday’s contest against the Phillies and rookie right-hander Spencer Howard. Cano has been out of the mix since Aug. 3 due to a groin injury, but he was off to a torrid start before being sidelined. In 12 games, Cano has hit .412, producing a 187 OPS+, on pace to be the highest mark of his career. New York could use Cano’s left-handed thump in the lineup with Jeff McNeil sidelined for the time being due to a leg bruise. So long as Cano is producing, he will be a staple of the New York order whether it be at second base or as the DH, giving him added season-long intrigue.
