6 months agoBoston Red Sox relief pitcher Colten Brewer was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket Saturday night, and in his place, the Sox recalled reliever Darwinzon Hernandez from Double-A Portland. Brewer threw 2 1/3 innings in last night's loss, so the team needed a fresh arm for Sunday's game against Houston. Hernandez, a 22-year-old southpaw will begin his second stint with the big-league club, after making his major-league debut on April 23. The rookie went 2 1/3 innings in his first appearance, striking out four. It's to be seen if Brewer will stay down in the minors, after sporting a 5.32 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in 20 appearances. In any situation, neither presents a worthwhile fantasy option, especially with a volatile bullpen situation in Boston.--Steve Janik - RotoBaller
