Houston Astros catcher/designated hitter Evan Gattis has struggled to begin the season and has seen only 11 at-bats thus far in the month of May. He has lost playing time at the catching position to Max Stassi and veteran Brian McCann. He also has been the odd-man out in the designated hitter rotation of late, as the Astros have opted to use Josh Reddick more in that spot. Gattis' numbers and playing time have been on the decline for seasons now, and he is a long way away from his 32-homer season in 2016. He has a career slugging percentage of .472, but right now he simply is not getting the opportunities. Gattis should still be in line to contribute at some point this season, but right now he is buried on the bench. He could get the start on Tuesday, however, against A's starter Sean Manaea. In 21 career at-bats against Manaea, Gattis is hitting .286 with one home run.--Joey C - RotoBaller
