Phillies Acquire Buddy Kennedy From Tigers
The Philadelphia Phillies acquired infielder Buddy Kennedy from the Detroit Tigers on Friday in exchange for cash considerations. After acquired him, the Phillies optioned Kennedy to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he will provide the club with infield depth. The 25-year-old was originally a fifth-round pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2017. He made his big-league debut in 2022 and saw action in 30 games before playing in only 10 games for the D-backs in 2023. In just six games with Detroit this year, he went 2-for-10 with a homer and four RBI. In his 46 games since 2022 at the major-league level, Kenney has hit .205/.294/.316 with two homers and 17 RBI in 136 plate appearances. In 39 contests at Triple-A Toledo this year, Kennedy had gone 33-for-141 (.234) with three home runs and 14 RBI.
