Pete Carroll Wants To Run The Ball More In 2021
4 years agoSeattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said that he wants to run the ball more in 2021 in order to force defenses into looks that they can throw deep on. "I know fans don't want to hear it," Carroll said. Seattle started 5-0 this year and quarterback Russell Wilson was a front-runner for the MVP award. Wilson threw for 300-plus yards five times in the first eight games, but the team's explosive offensive plays were slowed in the second half of the season when defenses adjusted. In the final four games, including the wild-card loss to the Rams, Wilson didn't complete more than 67 percent of his passes and had 200 passing yards or fewer in three contests. Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer will be back in 2021, and if the team indeed leans more on the run, it'll be good news for Chris Carson and bad news for Wilson's fantasy managers.
