Patriots View Mike Gesicki As Receiver/Tight End Hybrid
2 years agoThe New England Patriots view tight end Mike Gesicki as much as a receiver as a tight end, so the wide receiver position might not be as much of a need in this year's draft as some people may think. The team also has big plans for 2022 second-rounder Tyquan Thornton alongside DeVante Parker, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Kendrick Bourne. This year's receiver class isn't considered strong when compared to previous years, so New England may not take a pass-catcher in Round 1. Gesicki had only 32 catches for 362 yards and five touchdowns behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle in Miami in 2022, but he should have a much bigger role in New England this year as the Pats look to get quarterback Mac Jones going again. Hunter Henry will cap Gesicki's ceiling, but he could be a sneaky TE2 selection in fantasy drafts.
