Matthew Golden Has Earned Jordan Love's Trust
Jordan Love said he's "got a lot of confidence" in rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. Golden worked with the first-team offense in Green Bay's first preseason game on Saturday against the New York Jets. A first-round draft pick out of Texas, Golden has an opportunity to become the lead target-getter for the Packers in 2025. His role could become even larger if third-year wide receiver Jayden Reed (foot) is forced to miss time as a result of a sprained foot. Golden has tremendous upside in fantasy and could see his average draft position continue to rise throughout the remainder of the preseason.

Tucker Kraft Plays Majority Of First-Team Snaps in Preseason Opener
Tucker Kraft played the majority of snaps on the Packers' first two series in the Green Bay preseason opener against the New York Jets. While Kraft didn't earn a target from quarterback Jordan Love, he played on 10-of-12 offensive snaps per Nathan Jahnke of Pro Football Focus. Kraft's night was over after the first-team offense left the field after the second drive. Kraft's second NFL season was excellent with 50 receptions, 707 receiving yards and seven touchdowns while playing in all 17 games. As the clear top tight end on the Packers in 2025, Kraft's services can be procured in fantasy for a mid-round pick and could provide massive benefits if he can take a leap in production this season.

Matthew Golden Plays All First-Team Offensive Snaps in Preseason Debut
Matthew Golden got his first snaps in the team's first preseason game on Saturday night against the New York Jets. Golden caught Jordan Love's only completed pass on a seven-yard slant in the team's second offensive series. Later in the drive, Golden was targeted again by Love but the play was nullified by a defensive penalty. That lone catch would be the only contribution Golden would make as his night was done following the second series. Drafted with the 23rd overall pick, Golden was the Packers' first wide receiver selected in the first round since Javon Walker in 2002. Golden brings some much-needed juice to the Packers and looks to carve an early niche in this receiver corps. Given the ambiguous nature of the current crop of Packers' pass-catchers. Golden has massive upside for fantasy as a WR4 option in fantasy drafts.

Romeo Doubs Targeted Twice In First Preseason Outing Against Jets
Romeo Doubs played a full complement of snaps in the first two offensive series in the Packers' 30-10 loss to the New York Jets in their preseason opener. Doubs was on the field with the first-team offense and earned targets on two of Jordan Love's five pass attempts, dropping the first, and then up against Sauce Gardner, had the ball batted away by the defender. Entering his fourth season, Doubs had his 2024 season marred by a one-game suspension and concussions. He's been a solid contributor when healthy, but is more of a fantasy floor play than one with high upside. Doubs should only be drafted in the deepest of fantasy formats and is a routes-based play if you need a receiver who will run routes and be on the field for one of the better offenses in the NFL.

Jordan Love Completes One Pass In First Preseason Action
Jordan Love got his feet wet with 12 offensive snaps in the Packers' preseason opener against the New York Jets. Love played the team's first two series, completing one pass in five attempts for seven yards, a slant to first-round rookie Matthew Golden. Love's receivers were shaky in his two series, with Romeo Doubs seeing two targets, Malik Heath seeing one, and tight end Luke Musgrave getting the downfield target. Injuries and a run-heavy approach to the Packers' offense led to a production dip from Love in 2024, but Love is a solid bounce-back candidate in 2025 to return to the QB1 ranks. For now, draft Love as a QB2 with upside residing in his team's ability to score a ton of points.

Jayden Reed Could Miss Regular Season Time?
Jayden Reed (foot) will be ready for Week 1, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The third-year wideout was seen in a walking boot during the team's preseason game on Saturday and is known to be dealing with a sprained foot. In 17 games last season for Green Bay, Reed caught 55 passes for 857 yards and six touchdowns. He's expected to play a key role in the Packers' offense alongside fellow wide receivers Romeo Doubs and rookie Matthew Golden. If Reed were to miss time, it could open more opportunities for Dontayvion Wicks and Savion Williams to earn playing time in Green Bay.

Matthew Golden Earns Effusive Praise from Matt LaFleur
Matthew Golden has "some of the most natural hands" that he's ever been around and that Golden has been "outstanding" in training camp, according to Zach Jacobson of 247Sports. The Packers used a first-round pick on Golden in the 2025 draft. He's part of a deep wide receiver room in Green Bay that includes established contributors like Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs, but lacks a true superstar WR1. Reed (foot) was also seen wearing a walking boot during the team's preseason game on Saturday, although he's considered to be day-to-day with a sprained foot. Based on how LaFleur is speaking about Golden, it appears the 22-year-old could be in line for a large role in the Green Bay offense early in his rookie season.

Jayden Reed Wearing Walking Boot
Jayden Reed (foot) will not suit up for Saturday's preseason contest against the New York Jets. Reed has been banged up early in training camp, so the Packers decided to be cautious and rest Reed on Saturday. It's worth noting that Reed was seen wearing a walking boot on his left foot during Saturday's game. The 25-year-old has been dealing with a foot and toe injury, so the walking boot isn't a shocker. At the moment, fantasy managers shouldn't be concerned about Reed's status heading into Week 1. There is still plenty of time for Reed to get ready to play. At the moment, Reed's foot injury is being viewed as a minor issue, but fantasy managers should keep checking back for updates.

MarShawn Lloyd Doing Rehab Work on the Side
MarShawn Lloyd (groin) was technically listed as not practicing at training camp on Thursday, but ESPN's Rob Demovsky was doing some rehab work for the first time since suffering a groin injury. Lloyd, who played in just one regular-season game in 2024 in his rookie season due to multiple injuries, suffered a non-contact groin injury in late July and hasn't practiced with the rest of the team since. The 24-year-old second-year back most likely won't play in the preseason opener this Saturday against the New York Jets, but the Packers are hopeful he'll be ready for the start of the regular season in early September. Green Bay is still waiting for Lloyd to prove he's worthy of RB2 duties behind starter Josh Jacobs, and so are fantasy managers holding him in dynasty/keeper leagues.

Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks Not Practicing
Jayden Reed (foot) and Dontayvion Wicks (calf) did not take part in Thursday's training camp practice, according to Packers beat writer Wes Hodkiewicz. Reed has missed time this summer with a toe injury as well, but the foot injury is a new one and bears watching going forward. Wicks, meanwhile, has been managing a calf injury since late July. Neither pass-catcher is likely to suit up for Saturday's preseason opener versus the New York Jets. Reed's injuries don't seem serious, and he was working in two-receiver sets in camp before getting hurt. The 25-year-old was on his way to a huge year in 2024 before seeing his usage tail off late in the year. Still, he's shown a nose for the end zone (14 touchdowns in two years) while being a boom/bust big-play wideout as a WR4/flex in fantasy. Reed could have a bigger role early in 2025 with Christian Watson (knee) out.

Jordan Love Expected to Run More in 2025
Jordan Love missed two full games last year with a sprained MCL in his knee and parts of two more games with a groin injury. It played a part in Love ranking 34th with 83 rushing yards, according to TruMedia. Offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich said he'd love for Love to run a little more in 2025. The Athletic's Matt Schneidman writes that Love using his legs more "would unlock another dimension to Green Bay's offense." Love is fully healthy this year after not routinely practicing until around the midway point last year. In 2023, the 26-year-old signal-caller ran 50 times for 247 yards and four touchdowns while playing a full season. Injuries caused Love to take a step back last year, but with better health and more rushing chances, he could easily bounce back as a nice QB2 in fantasy with upside.

Jordan Love to Play on Saturday Against Jets
Jordan Love will play in the preseason opener on Saturday against the New York Jets, according to Zach Jacobson of 247 Sports. LaFleur said the team will do their best to give all four QBs meaningful reps in the first preseason game this weekend. Love will probably see a series or two before giving way to Malik Willis, Sean Clifford and Taylor Elgersma. Even though receiver Christian Watson (knee) could miss half of the season while rehabbing a torn ACL, Love will have plenty of targets in the passing game after the Packers added Matthew Golden in the first round in April. The 26-year-old took a slight step back in 2024 with 3,389 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 15 regular-season starts. Love is a QB2 in fantasy with upside.

MarShawn Lloyd the RB3 on First Unofficial Depth Chart
MarShawn Lloyd (groin) is listed as the No. 3 RB behind starter Josh Jacobs and No. 2 Emanuel Wilson on the team's first unofficial depth chart of the preseason. The expectation was that Lloyd would become Jacobs' primary backup in his second year in the NFL, but the 24-year-old former third-rounder (88th overall) continues to be plagued by injuries after he was able to play in just one game in his rookie season. Lloyd is currently dealing with a non-contact groin injury but is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season. He is going to need to stay healthy and prove to the Packers that he's deserving of backup duties over both Wilson and Chris Brooks. So far, fantasy managers rostering Lloyd in dynasty/keeper leagues have to be disappointed. He's ranked at RotoBaller as the RB65.

Jordan Love Talks Up Rookie Matthew Golden
Jordan Love said rookie first-round wide receiver Matthew Golden without hesitation. "He's gonna be a stud," Love said. "Very aggressive hands, smooth route-runner, he's got speed." There will once again be plenty of competition for targets in Green Bay's receivers room in 2025, but the 22-year-old Golden has looked the part in camp and has been working with the first-team offense. Christian Watson (knee) could miss around half the 2025 season while recovering from an ACL tear, and it wouldn't be a surprise if Golden is running in starting three-wide sets with Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs/Dontayvion Wicks. At the very least, the speedy Golden could be Love's go-to deep threat in his first NFL season, making him worth a look as a WR4/5 in redraft fantasy leagues.

Romeo Doubs' Top-End Speed Reaching New Level, Creating More Separation
Romeo Doubs this summer at training camp. "His top-end speed has reached a new level. Feels like there's a new clip every day of him getting behind the secondary." Christian Watson (knee) could miss half of the season after tearing his ACL late last year, but the Packers added receiver Matthew Golden in the first round, so the Packers' wideout room is still very crowded. The 25-year-old Doubs had 46 catches on 72 targets for 601 yards and four touchdowns in 13 regular-season games (12 starts) in 2024 in his third year in the league. He saw about the same volume as 2023 but had a career-high 13.1 yards per catch and 8.3 yards per target. Doubs is probably going to continue to struggle to stand out in Green Bay's offense and is currently ranked at RotoBaller as the WR60 in fantasy.
