Panthers Rookie QB To See Plenty Of Reps
1 day agoCarolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich said that their rookie quarterback that will be drafted with the first overall pick is "going to get a lot of reps" to give him a chance to start right away in 2023. This shouldn't come as a huge surprise, as the Panthers gave away the farm to put themselves in position to take the QB they like the most in this year's draft class at No. 1 overall. Carolina also signed veteran signal-caller Andy Dalton in free agency, but they'd prefer if their rookie quarterback earned the starting gig in training camp this summer. The Panthers have also added running back Miles Sanders, receiver Adam Thielen and tight end Hayden Hurst in free agency, which should take some pressure off whichever rookie signal-caller they take in next month's draft.Source: ESPN.com - David Newton
Cowboys Were In On Jerry Jeudy
1 day agoThe Dallas Cowboys were in on Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy before landing wideout Brandin Cooks from the Houston Texans on Sunday. The Broncos have been seeking a first-rounder in exchange for Jeudy, so the Cowboys gave up a fifth-rounder in this year's draft and a sixth-rounder in 2024 to land Cooks instead. Dallas now has CeeDee Lamb, Cooks and Michael Gallup as their top three receivers heading into the 2023 campaign. Jeudy is expected to remain with the Broncos because of his high price tag. The former first-rounder has underwhelmed in his first three NFL seasons, but he did set career-highs in catches (67), receiving yards (972) and touchdowns (six) in 2022.Source: PFF - Marcus Mosher
Raiders Hosting O.J. Howard For A Visit
1 day agoThe Las Vegas Raiders are hosting former first-round tight end O.J. Howard for a visit, according to sources. As the Raiders look to replace Darren Waller after they traded him to the New York Giants last week, Howard is a pass-catcher who can help stretch opposing defenses. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneer made 10 starts for the Houston Texans last year and disappointed with a career-low 10 receptions (23 targets) for 145 yards and two touchdowns in 13 total games. There is opportunity at the position in Vegas, as Jesper Horsted and Cole Fotheringham are the only two tight ends currently on the roster. Howard hasn't done much since his first two years in the league with Tampa, when he combined for 60 catches, 997 yards and 11 touchdowns in 24 games (22 starts).Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Panthers Still Talking With DJ Chark
1 day agoCarolina Panthers general manager Scott Fitterer said that the team is still talking with free-agent wide receiver DJ Chark, but nothing is resolved yet. Carolina signed former Minnesota Vikings wideout Adam Thielen to a three-year, $25 million deal on Sunday to help replace DJ Moore after they traded him to the Chicago Bears, but apparently the Panthers are still open to adding Chark to bolster their receiving corps. It could still use a boost, as Terrace Marshall Jr. and Laviska Shenault Jr. aren't exactly scaring opposing defenses on game days. Chark had a 1,000-yard season and scored eight touchdowns for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019, but he's been limited by injuries over the last three seasons and had 30 catches for 502 yards and three touchdowns in only 11 games for the Detroit Lions in 2022.Source: Panthers.com - Darin Gantt
Bills Sign Trent Sherfield To One-Year Deal
1 day agoThe Buffalo Bills signed former Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Trent Sherfield to an undisclosed one-year deal on Monday. Sherfield spent the first three seasons of his NFL career witht he Arizona Cardinals and caught a combined 28 passes for 340 yards and one touchdown on 48 targets over 44 games (four starts) in the desert. He spent 2021 with the Niners and last year with Miami. Sherfield caught a career-high 30 passes (51 targets) for 417 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games (four starts) in 2022 for the Dolphins. The 27-year-old receiver will give the Bills more depth at the position behind Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis after they parted ways with slot man Isaiah McKenzie this offseason.Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Cardinals Agree With Zach Pascal On Two-Year Deal
1 day agoThe Arizona Cardinals agreed to terms with free-agent wide receiver Zach Pascal on an undisclosed two-year deal on Monday, according to sources. Pascal and new Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon were together with the Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles, so Gannon knows that Pascal is a well-rounded receiver. The 28-year-old pass-catcher had a career-low 15 receptions on 19 targets for only 150 yards and one touchdown in 17 games (two starts) in his lone season with Philly in 2022. There's a good chance the Cardinals look to trade DeAndre Hopkins this offseason, but Arizona also has Marquise Brown, Rondale Moore and Greg Dortch at the position, so Pascal will be battling for playing time either way in 2023.Source: NFL Network - Mike Garofolo
C.J. Gardner-Johnson On The Move To Detroit
2 days agoFree-agent safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson has agreed to a one-year, $8 million deal with the Lions. Philly has lost some big names already this offseason, as T.J. Edwards, Marcus Epps, Isaac Seumalo, Miles Sanders, and Javon Hargrave are now on new teams. With Detroit making some significant moves of late, Gardner-Johnson, who had 67 total tackles, eight passes defensed, six picks, and a sack last season, will help bolster a Lions defense that could be more productive in 2023-24.Source: ESPN
Broncos Unwilling To Deal Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy
2 days agoAccording to Mike Klis of 9News, the Broncos remain uninterested in dealing Courtland Sutton or Jerry Jeudy. We've heard this before. However, there have been several reports to the contrary in the last few months. Sutton's best season was in 2019, where he amassed 72 catches for 1,112 yards and six touchdowns while earning a trip to the Pro Bowl. He tore his ACL the following season and hasn't been the same since. Jeudy, who has been subject to trade rumors in the past, is entering the final year of his current agreement, although Denver could pick up his fifth-year option. The 23-year-old is coming off his most productive season, finishing the 2022-23 campaign with 67 receptions for 972 yards and six trips to the end zone. Nevertheless, there will probably be continuous updates on these two, so fantasy managers won't know for certain where they'll end up. Yet, if they stay in Denver, the addition of head coach Sean Payton will surely increase their fantasy stock.Source: Mike Klis
Travin Howard To Visit The Cowboys On Monday
2 days agoAccording to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, free-agent linebacker Travin Howard will visit with the Cowboys on Monday. The 26-year-old has spent his entire career with the Rams, totaling 44 tackles (35 solo). However, he's started only two of his 29 career games while appearing in just one game last season. With that said, Dallas is looking to beef up the depth chart while keeping a close eye on the cap. But even if Howard inks a deal with the Cowboys, it won't mean much from a fantasy standpoint.Source: Michael Gehlken
Cowboys To Host Ronald Jones On Monday
2 days agoAccording to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys will host free-agent running back Ronald Jones on Monday. The organization recently parted ways with Ezekiel Elliott, and Tony Pollard (fibula) suffered a leg injury during the NFC Divisional Round. As a result, the team needs to explore its options while being mindful of its cap situation. Jones spent last season in Kansas City, where he saw the field sparingly. He finished with just one touchdown in 2022-23 after amassing 20 in four years with the Buccaneers. If the 25-year-old ends up in Dallas, he's someone to watch, especially since he could see additional work early in the season if Pollard isn't healthy enough to play.Source: Michael Gehlken
Adam Thielen Agrees To Deal With Carolina
2 days agoFree-agent wide receiver Adam Thielen agreed to a three-year, $25 million deal with the Panthers on Sunday. The Panthers recently sent D.J. Moore to Chicago, so there was a glaring hole at the position. The two-time Pro Bowl wideout has accumulated 534 catches for 6,682 yards and 55 touchdowns during his career. Arguably, Thielen's best seasons have occurred in the last three years, so there could be plenty of gas left in the tank. He has also stayed relatively healthy since entering the league in 2014, which has been another added perk for fantasy managers. However, Carolina is in rebuilding mode, and instability at the quarterback spot significantly lowers his ceiling heading into the 2023-24 campaign. Still, Thielen is certainly worth considering during fantasy drafts, even if his attractiveness on the fantasy end isn't as high as it once was.Source: Charean Williams
Greg Gaines Joins Buccaneers
2 days agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reached an agreement with free-agent defensive tackle Greg Gaines. The two sides have agreed on a one-year contract for the upcoming 2023 season. This is a sneaky move by the Bucs to bulk up their defensive line without making a huge commitment. Gaines has started each of the last two seasons as a member of the Los Angeles Rams. During that span, Gaines has recorded 44 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and 8.5 sacks in 33 games (25 starts) with the Rams. The expectation is that Gaines is going to immediately slide into a starting defensive tackle spot in Tampa Bay.Source: ESPN
Ben Jones Drawing Interest From Jets?
2 days agoFree-agent center Ben Jones is reportedly a name to watch with the New York Jets in free agency, according to Brian Costello. This rumor does make sense considering Jones did work with Jets offensive line coach Keith Carter while in Tennessee. The 33-year-old has been a reliable center whenever he's healthy. However, Jones only managed to play 12 games last season due to concussions. The Titans recently released Jones and he hasn't drawn much interest since then. On paper, the Jets do make sense as a potential fit. Jones should be able to find a new home before the new season rolls around.Source: Brian Costello
Laremy Tunsil Gets Extension
2 days agoHouston Texans offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil has signed a new extension with the organization. The two sides have agreed on a three-year, $75 million extension. This deal includes $50 million fully guaranteed and $60 million in total guarantees. Tunsil once again becomes the highest-paid tackle in the NFL. He is well deserving of a nice payday considering Tunsil is one of the best tackles in the league. The Texans want to ensure they have their blindside covered for whoever they decide to select with the No. 2 overall pick in the upcoming draft.Source: Ian Rapoport
Brandin Cooks Traded To Cowboys
2 days agoThe Houston Texans have traded wide receiver Brandin Cooks to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. In exchange, the Texans will receive 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick for Cooks. At first glance, that deal seems like a steal for the Cowboys who get a productive receiver for very little. The downside for Dallas is they will take on his $26 million salary for the 2023 campaign. The Cowboys are desperate for help at wideout, so they appear willing to pay in order to get another consistent receiver. Cooks has posted two 1,000-plus yard seasons over the last three years. He experienced a down year in 2022, but that was partly due to the fact the Texans were rebuilding. The move to Dallas should be positive for Cooks fantasy value. The hope is that he can be a high-end WR3 with an upgraded offensive unit.Source: Ian Rapoport
