Montreal Canadiens goaltender Jakub Dobes has re-signed with the team, agreeing to a two-year, $1.93 million pact. Dobes made his NHL debut during the 2024-25 campaign, posting a 7-4-3 record across 15 starts. He became the 13th goaltender in NHL history to go 5-0-0 in his first five career games, and only the fourth netminder born outside North America to accomplish this. Following his hot start, Dobes was inconsistent but still finished the season with solid numbers. He logged a 2.74 goals-against average with a .909 save percentage and one shutout. On July 1, Dobes became a restricted free agent, but the Canadiens now have him locked up for a couple of more years. The 24-year-old Czech will compete with Kaapo Kahkonen for the No. 2 spot behind Sam Montembeault in the Canadiens crease.--Taavi Pailk
