Daniel Berger will make his first start at Quail Hollow since the 2019 Wells Fargo Championship and his first start at the PGA Championship since 2022. Though his history has not been the best at this venue or event, Berger is playing some of the best golf of his career in 2025. Players will need excellent play off the tee and be able to capitalize on the par 5s around the course to succeed. Berger has been excellent gaining strokes off the tee this year, ranking 28th (+0.373) in that category. He also ranks eighth in strokes gained tee-to-green (+1.169). He has a great shot to compete this week and should be considered a solid DFS play.

Just as other players have experienced this same talking point on their last leg, Jordan Spieth comes to another PGA Championship with talks of completing the same feat Rory McIlroy accomplished at The Masters last month -- the career grand slam. Talks have been muted given his struggles between the ropes in recent years, but since returning from wrist surgery in February, the 31-year-old has put together solid finishes. In 11 events, Spieth has accumulated two top-five finishes, a top-10, and three top-20s with only one missed cut. He ranks 19th on the season in total strokes gained (plus-0.842) but doesn't jump off the page in any singular area. His approach play has been a roller coaster that has averaged anywhere from minus-1.74 to plus-1.94 strokes on any given week, though his proximity numbers rank higher the farther he gets from the hole. At $10,300 on FanDuel, the former Longhorn makes an interesting case worth taking a chance on.

If history on this property had any sway this week in Charlotte, Rory McIlroy could leave with the Wanamaker Trophy right now. He's been the most dominant player at Quail Hollow over the last 15 years, and it is by far the most comfortable layout for the Northern Irishman on the professional golf circuit. The driving acumen needed for success here has been the basis of McIlroy's entire career. He currently leads the PGA Tour in strokes gained off the tee (+0.869), but ranking sixth on the season in strokes gained putting (+0.717) has propelled the 36-year-old this season to win three times, including The Masters. Put them together, and it's easy to see why he is the favorite this week. That doesn't automatically spell "must-play" for DFS purposes, though, as ownership levels will be astronomical.

After a T14 at The Masters, Jon Rahm still seems a bit forgotten this week at Quail Hollow, even with his impressive run of finishes on LIV. That could prove unwise, as the Spaniard has been a beast with the driver in hand (averaging +0.993 strokes gained off the tee) and has turned out mostly strong performances on and around the green. Success with the big stick will undoubtedly have a large impact on a long, 7,600+ yard course that has been pounded with heavy rain to start the week. Approach play is Rahm's largest concern, but he's doing enough in the other areas to make up for the slight struggle at times with the irons. At $11,900 on FanDuel, the 30-year-old has good upside at the top of lineups that should come with an ownership advantage.

With Shane Lowry's bogey on the 18th at the Truist Championship, Justin Thomas moved into a share of second place, marking his third top-two finish in his last four events. He now has six top-10s on the season and will look to carry this elite form into the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. Thomas has a strong track record at this course, winning here in 2017 and never finishing worse than T26 since. His game is well-suited for the demanding 7,500-yard, par-71 setup, ranking fifth in strokes gained from tee to green (plus-1.227 per round), fifth on approach (plus-0.896), and 20th in putting (plus-0.432). Akshay Bhatia does have three top-10 results and has made the cut in all but three events in 2025. The American golfer finished third at the Players Championship in March. Since then, his finishes have been lacking. Bhatia has missed the weekend twice and has been outside the top 40 in three other tournaments. Can his form bounce back? Bhatia showed glimpses of that answer being yes in Round 1 of the Truist Championship. He fired a 63 and was right there with the leaders. Slowly, however, things fell out of place, and a 74 on Sunday dropped him to a T46. Bhatia drives the ball only 293 yards, which ranks 162nd, and that could be a reason to fade the golfer this week for the PGA Championship.

Harris English won the Farmers Insurance Open way back in January. The American golfer has since kept his season rolling with some solid results. That includes three Top 20 finishes over the past four events. He flirted with a Top 10 at The Masters and last week at the Truist Championship. English now ranks 18th in strokes gained to putting at 0.441. His one-putt percentage is a little concerning at 40% (114th) as Quail Hollow can be tough with its firmness and undulations. Also, English has been up and down with scoring average (70.4 - 101st) and birdie average (3.5 - 150th). If the course is not quite as challenging as expected, English could have problems keeping up.

Collin Morikawa continues to rack up top-20 finishes, with his T17 at the Truist Championship marking his seventh in his first eight solo events of the year. He will look to keep his elite play rolling at the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. Success at this course requires both distance and accuracy off the tee and on approach, and while Morikawa ranks just 156th in driving distance, he compensates with precision, sitting first on tour in driving accuracy. He also ranks fourth in strokes gained from tee to green (plus-1.373), 16th off the tee (plus-0.481), and fourth in approach (plus-0.930). His putter has been solid, ranking 63rd, and he excels at avoiding bogeys, sitting ninth in this category. Known for his exceptional iron play, Morikawa will rely heavily on his ball-striking to keep up with the longer hitters in the field. Given his current form, he is well-positioned to contend for another major title.

Gary Woodland has endured an interesting 2025 season. The American veteran golfer started off well, missed three straight cuts, and then seemed to get things back in shape. Woodland even finished runner-up at the Texas Children's Houston Open. He did take a few steps back in the previous few events. However, Woodland keeps playing the weekend. Keep in mind that the golfer has +25000 odds to win the PGA Championship. His Top 20 number rolls in between +500 and +600 (+1100 for Top 10). Woodland averages 313.6 yards a drive (9th on the PGA Tour) but his 57.06% accuracy on drives is only 123rd. With Quail Hollow's small greens and weekend pin placements, that could be a problem for Woodland come the weekend.

Si Woo Kim heads into the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow after a solid T17 finish at the Truist Championship, marking his seventh top-25 finish of the season. At Quail Hollow, Kim has posted results of T16 and T43 in his two most recent trips, hindered by struggles on the greens—he lost over 8.5 strokes putting in those two events. Sahith Theegala has had a strange 2025 season on the PGA Tour. The American golfer has only missed one cut in 14 events but had to withdraw last week at the Truist Championship. Worse, he was dead last in the field and it was apparent his neck had been bothering him Thursday and Friday. Theegala can be great around the greens and be creative with shots. Sometimes, the problem is the golfer makes too much out of a shot. That may be why his metrics are so far off. Theegala does not have a single Top 10 result in 2025 either. Two big red flags for the golfer may be greens in regulation (63.49% - 151st) and that 55.13% driving accuracy which ranks 144th. If Theegala can keep more balls on the fairways and greens, contending is possible.
