Padres Plan To Have Juan Soto In Their 2024 Lineup
1 year agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Juan Soto's agent, Scott Boras, said the Padres have laid out a plan to his client that includes Soto in their lineup next season. Trade rumors have been swirling around the three-time All-Star since the Friars ended their disappointing 2023 campaign. The 25-year-old left-handed slugger is going to see a huge payday with free agency looming for him in 2025. Despite the Padres finishing outside of the playoff picture, Soto hit .275 with a career-high 35 home runs, 109 RBI and a .930 OPS while playing in all 162 games and leading all of baseball with 132 walks. It would make sense for SD to trade Soto for a huge prospect haul if they felt he didn't have interest in sticking around long term. They could also trade him if they don't think they'll be able to afford signing him to what will eventually be a massive long-term contract.
