Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Olli Maatta (upper body) was placed on the Injured Reserve list on Wednesday due to an upper-body injury. He suffered the injury in Monday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers in the first period and he is listed as out indefinitely. With Maatta out of the mix, Juuso Riikola and Chad Ruhwedel operated as the bottom defensive pairing against the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night. Neither did anything of note offensively, although Ruhwedel had a solid showing with four blocked shots and four hits in his 19:45 of ice time.--Daniel Dobish
