6 years agoThe Kansas City Royals have elected to call up 24-year-old prospect Nicky Lopez for Tuesday's game. The second baseman is one of the team's top 10 prospects according to pretty much every scout out there, and he has raked so far this year in Triple-A Omaha. Lopez has hit .353 with three home runs and nine stolen bases while walking four times as often as he's struck out. Free agent acquisition Chris Owings has played dreadfully, so it's a perfect chance for Lopez to show he's ready for the big time. Lopez has always had a good eye, but other than that, his fielding has been his signature tool. This season has been a bit of a breakout for him at Triple-A, so it remains to be seen whether he can keep up the pace while facing major league pitching.
