Nick Pivetta Gives Up Three Runs
6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Nick Pivetta gave up three runs in five innings in his first start after being recalled from Triple-A. Pivetta was greeted rudely by the Cardinals giving up all three runs, including two homers, within the first four batters he faced. Pivetta settled down after that and turned what could've been a disaster into a positive outing, putting up zeros in the next four innings including six strikeouts. The outing actually lowered Pivetta's ERA to 7.71 but he remains an interesting add in fantasy. Last season, Pivetta pitched to a 3.42 xFIP, struck out 27.1 percent of batters, and had a 12 percent swinging strike rate. The talent is there and tonight was a step in the right direction in a tough matchup. While he should be added, it's probably best to leave him on the bench next time out at the Dodgers.
