Seattle Mariners designated hitter Nelson Cruz (foot) hopes to avoid the disabled list and return to the lineup by this weekend. Cruz is dealing with a deep bone bruise in his foot after being hit by a pitch. Cruz has already spent time on the DL this season with a sprained ankle, and the Mariners are desperate for middle-of-the-order production after Robinson Cano was suspended for 80 games. Cruz is slashing .240/.324/.463 this season with seven home runs but is hitting only .188 through 48 at-bats in the month of May. It has been a disappointing start to the season, but Cruz needs to be stashed everywhere and still can be an elite run producer this season.--Joey C - RotoBaller
