Mychal Givens Temporarily Demoted From Closer Role
6 years agoBaltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that the team will look to get closer Mychal Givens back into high-leverage spots eventually given his recent struggles. Hyde was non-committal when asked who might get the team's next save opportunity. Givens has allowed eight earned runs on three homers while walking six and striking out three in three innings in his last four outings, including three losses and two blown saves. Ouch. In 19 outings in 2019, the right-hander has a 5.56 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, four saves and 29 K's in 22 2/3 frames. Any of Richard Bleier, Paul Fry, Miguel Castro or Shawn Armstrong could see save chances while Givens tries to figure things out, but none of them are probably worth chasing in fantasy leagues given the uncertainty and the limited save chances the Orioles provide their relievers.
