Mike Trout 2020 Outlook: League's Best Bat At The Lowest Cost In Years
5 years agoA foot injury limited Mike Trout to 134 games in 2019, but that didn’t stop him from hitting a career-high 45 homers to help capture his third AL MVP trophy. His remaining 5x5 roto numbers were sterling once again, but he did tie his career-low with 11 thefts. With his third straight injury-shortened season, the days of Trout stealing 25 bases could be gone as the Angels may limit his SB attempts to keep the 28-year-old healthy for a full season. Not often do you see the stock of a reigning MVP winner go down, but in early drafts, that’s exactly what’s happening due to this fact. For the first time since 2014, Trout is not the consensus number one pick in drafts; in fact, his current ADP is closer to third overall. This presents a tremendous opportunity for fantasy owners who could still cash in on the best bat in the league at the lowest cost in over five years. Trout may only produce an SB total in the teens, but his triple-digit totals in the R and RBI categories mixed in with his power and high batting average can still play as the first overall selection.
