Mike Boone Could Be A Significant Contributor
Mike Boone could be a significant contributor to the team's backfield this year, according to general manager George Paton. Boone, who was with the Minnesota Vikings during Paton's tenure as assistant general manager, is trending as the No. 3 in this backfield behind Melvin Gordon III and rookie second-rounder Javonte Williams. With Gordon away from offseason workouts, Williams and Boone split most of the work with the starters through organized team activities and minicamp. So far in training camp, all three have worked with the starters. Royce Freeman has merely been sprinkled in. The Broncos are expected to try to become more physical on offense in 2021, and that starts with the running game. Gordon figures to start in Week 1, but most expect Williams to overtake him at some point this year, and it reflects in his 26.3 ADP, two spots in front of Gordon. While Boone could see touches occasionally, barring an injury to Gordon or Williams, he won't have much redraft value.
