Miguel Sano Agrees To Extension
5 years agoThe Minnesota Twins and third baseman Miguel Sano agreed to a three-year contract extension, according to a source familiar with the deal. The deal includes a club option for the 2023 season and will buy out two years of free agency. The extension is for $30 million, with $27 million spread out over the first three years and $3 million on a fourth-year option. The 26-year-old had 34 home runs and 79 RBI for the Twins last season after getting off to a horrendous start. The slugger batted .279 with a .994 OPS after June 28 and was one of the best hitters in baseball to close out the season. Sano hit just .199 with 13 home runs in 71 games for Minnesota in 2018. There is volatility here, but he remains one of the best true sources of power in baseball.
