Miguel Rojas Withdraws From World Baseball Classic
2 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers shortstop Miguel Rojas announced that he plans to withdraw from this year's World Baseball Classic for Team Venezuela. It was a mutual decision between Rojas and the Dodgers now that he will be the primary shortstop in the wake of Gavin Lux's (knee) season-ending torn ACL. Utility man Chris Taylor will also mix in at the 6 for the Blue in 2023 with Lux done, but Rojas will be the primary man at shortstop. The 34-year-old was acquired by the Dodgers in a trade with the Marlins this offseason. A wrist injury that required surgery hampered Rojas at the plate in 2022, causing him to slash a weak .236/.283/.323 with a .605 OPS, six home runs, 36 RBI, 34 runs and nine steals in 140 games. He's worth a late-round selection as a middle infielder in deeper leagues with more projected playing time in a strong Dodgers lineup.
