The Pittsburgh Penguins have traded left wing Michael Bunting (abdomen) and a 2026 fourth-round selection to the Nashville Predators in exchange for center Thomas Novak and defenseman Luke Schenn. Bunting is currently sidelined with after undergoing an appendectomy and could return later in the 2024 season. However, Bunting will be under contract with Nashville for the 2025 season. Bunting was initially traded to Pittsburgh during last year's trade deadline in a move that sent Jake Guentzel to the Carolina Hurricanes. Before sustaining the injury this season, the 29-year-old found the back of the net 14 times and added 15 helpers. He tallied 15 of his points on the power-play and added 59 hits and 13 blocked shots. If Bunting were to return later this season, he will likely have a role in the Nashville top-six.--Andy Smith
