Mekhi Becton Down To 350 Pounds
2 years agoNew York Jets left tackle Mekhi Becton (knee) is down to around 350 pounds this offseason. The 2020 first-rounder weighed as much as 400 pounds a couple years ago and is determined to right his career as he looks to bounce back from his second knee surgery. The Jets have been non-committal on Becton's fifth-year option that would guarantee him $13.6 million in 2024, but the fact that he's missed almost two full seasons due to injuries suggests the Jets will decline it by the May 1 deadline. The 23-year-old expects to be ready for training camp this summer after suffering an avulsion fracture of his right kneecap during training camp last year. Becton missed all of the 2022 season.
