Matt McLain Could Return Next Tuesday
1 year agoIf all goes well, Cincinnati Reds rookie infielder Matt McLain (oblique) could return from the 10-day injured list as early as next Tuesday, according to manager David Bell. McLain is expected to start taking batting practice on Monday, and if he doesn't suffer any setbacks during baseball activities this week, he could rejoin the Reds for the final week of the regular season. The 24-year-old rookie has been out since Aug. 28 with a right-oblique strain, but he's hoping to return next week to help the Reds for one final playoff push to earn a National League wild-card spot. Before his injury, McLain was having an extremely impressive rookie season, slashing .290/.357/.507 with an .864 OPS, 16 homers, 50 RBI, 14 stolen bases and 65 runs scored in 365 at-bats.
