Matt Chapman Reinstated And Starting Thursday
1 year agoToronto Blue Jays third baseman Matt Chapman (finger) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list on Thursday and is playing third base and batting sixth in the order against the visiting Texas Rangers and right-hander Nathan Eovaldi. Outfielder Nathan Lukes was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move. Chapman is back with the team for the first time since going on the injured list on Aug. 28 due to a sprained finger, but he's now back as the team's regular starter at the hot corner. The 30-year-old veteran wasn't swinging the bat well before his injury, so fantasy managers may not want to expect him to return with a flurry of hits. Overall in his second year in Toronto, Chapman has hit .248/.338/.431 with 15 home runs, 36 doubles, a triple, 50 RBI, three steals and 61 runs scored in 520 trips to the plate and 125 games.
