Martin Prado Won't Be Ready For Opening Day, Brian Anderson To Start At Third
7 years agoMiami Marlins third baseman Martin Prado (knee) had a setback while running and will not be ready for Opening Day. With him set to open the season on the disabled list, Brian Anderson will open the year as the starting third baseman, according to manager Don Mattingly. Durability used to be a strong suit for Prado, but the aging infielder played in just 37 games last year and he's starting out 2018 on the wrong foot. Injury concerns and a weakened Marlins lineups are a major concern, and a high contact rate is really all Prado offers anymore. He's a weak option in NL-only formats. Anderson will see increased playing time, at least to start the year, but he lacks much upside or impact tools at the major league level.
