Marcus Walden Notches First Save Of Season
6 years agoBoston Red Sox relief pitcher Marcus Walden nailed down his first save of the season Sunday, in a 4-1 win over Houston. Walden struck out one en route to his second career save. He needed just nine pitches, and touched 95 mph in the ninth, but his statistical gain just makes the Boston bullpen situation even cloudier. The 30-year-old is now the fifth Boston reliever to record a save this season, and his 1.48 ERA is the best on the team, of pitchers who have appeared in more than 5 games. Brandon Workman notched a save last Sunday, while Ryan Brasier leads the team with six total. This is a very volatile bullpen, and it's just best to stay away for the time being.
