Marcelo Mayer Will Get an MRI
Marcelo Mayer (wrist) left Wednesday night's game against the Phillies with right wrist discomfort. After the game, he was wearing a brace on his wrist and said he would get an MRI. Mayer said, "It's in pain, but hopefully, it's not too severe." Mayer is hitting .228 with four homers, 10 RBI, and a .291 wOBA since making his debut for the Sox earlier this season. Mayer was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 MLB draft and rose quickly through the minors. He's a key part of the Red Sox young core, and hopefully, this injury isn't too serious. The team is off on Thursday, so keep an eye out for updates on his status heading into the weekend series against the Dodgers at Fenway.
