Ketel Marte Absent On Tuesday
4 months agoArizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte (ankle) is not in the team's starting lineup on Tuesday for the game at Chase Field against the visiting Colorado Rockies. Marte suffered an ankle contusion on Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies, didn't play on Sunday, and then was removed early from Monday's series opener with the Rockies with more discomfort in the same ankle. We'll have a better idea on whether the 30-year-old All-Star will need a trip to the injured list after his MRI results come back. An IL stint would be a huge blow to the contending D-backs and Marte's fantasy managers, as he's been one of the best hitters in baseball in 2024. He's currently batting .298 (129-for-433) with 30 homers, 81 RBI and six steals in 114 games. If Marte is forced to the IL, Kevin Newman, who is playing second base on Tuesday, would see most of the starts at the keystone for Arizona.
