Kelvin Gutierrez Shows Off Defense In MLB Debut
6 years agoKansas City Royals rookie third baseman Kelvin Gutierrez is getting a taste of the majors as regular starter Hunter Dozier takes some time to let his back fully recover, and he put up quite a performance in the first game of his career. Gutierrez had made a name for himself in the minors with his defense, and sure enough, he showed it in his first chance at the big league level. Gutierrez made two wonderful players at the hot corner and even knocked his first major league hit when he singled in a pair of runs in the third inning. While his offensive ceiling is quite limited from a fantasy perspective, Dozier's breakout could lead to extended time for Gutierrez if the team wants to let Dozier take more DH cuts in the future. He's worth watching for now for deep league players.
