Kellen Mond Lands With Vikings In Third Round
4 years agoThe Minnesota Vikings selected Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond with the second pick (66th overall) of the third round of the 2021 NFL draft on Friday night. The Vikings came into this draft looking for some insurance for Kirk Cousins, and Mond was their choice early in the third round. He was once more of a scrambler but became a pocket passer in college, but it's not as if he has zero athleticism. Mond's arm doesn't jump off the page, but it's adequate and he can make all the necessary throws to the intermediate part of the field. Mond doesn't have a ton of upside and is more of a developmental prospect, which works well, since he'll have time to sit and learn behind Cousins, beginning in 2021.
