Karl Vilips Makes PLAYERS Championship Debut After First PGA Tour Win
Karl Vilips carded a final-round 64 at the Puerto Rico Open to claim his first career victory in just his fourth start on the PGA Tour. The 23-year-old now turns his attention to The PLAYERS Championship for the first time. To succeed at TPC Sawgrass, players need to excel from tee to green, with particular emphasis on accuracy off the tee and on approach. Outside of his win last week, which doesn't have any ShotLink data available, Vilips ranks 40th in driving accuracy, 166th in strokes gained off the tee (minus-0.556 per round), 122nd in strokes gained from tee to green (minus-0.161 per round), and 27th in approach (0.537 per round). It's also worth noting that at the Puerto Rico Open, he hit the fairway at a rate of 62.5% and found greens in regulation 76.4% of the time. Vilips is riding high coming into the week, but historically, first-time winners tend to struggle the following week, so fantasy managers should carefully consider their options before including him in their lineups.
