Josh Smith Back For Rangers On Tuesday
6 months agoTexas Rangers infielder Josh Smith (hamstring) is back in the team's starting lineup on Tuesday, serving as the designated hitter and batting third against the visiting New York Mets and right-hander Luis Severino. Smith will return to action after missing the last four games with tightness in his hamstring. Ezequiel Duran will man the hot corner for Texas and hit eighth in the batting order. The 26-year-old Smith has gotten a lot of run at third base for the Rangers this year with Josh Jung (wrist) injured, and he's made the most of it, batting .294 (62-for-211) but with only four home runs, 25 RBI and four stolen bases in 68 games in his third season in the big leagues. Smith has been a bit better against left-handed pitching in far fewer at-bats, but he's still hitting .287 (45-for-157) with three of his four homers against righties in 2024.
