Josh Reddick Has Leg Up In Right Field
4 years agoHouston Astros manager Dusty Baker is giving outfielder Josh Reddick the leg up in the right field competition over youngster Kyle Tucker. Baker intimated that Tucker will have to win the job from Reddick, who is in the fourth year of his contract. “The future is probably Tucker’s, but the now is probably Reddick’s,” Baker said. Tucker was much better in his 22 games last September than he was in his rookie season, and Reddick hit .275 with 14 home runs and 56 RBI last year while playing Gold Glove-caliber defense. The 33-year-old veteran will have to keep producing to keep his starting job. Reddick could benefit from the short season, but he's still mostly an asset for depth in AL-only leagues and he could lose his job in 2020.
