Josh Bell 2023 Outlook: Rocky Second Half Shouldn’t Overshadow Consistent Career Production
2 years agoCleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Bell is looking to regain his form on his new team, which will be his third in less than a year. Bell started 2022 on the Nationals and was very good, rating out as a top 100 roto player. Unfortunately, after his trade to San Diego, he fell off a cliff. His overall line was mediocre; he hit .262 with 17 homers, 71 RBI, and 78 runs. His rough final stretch has clearly jaded fantasy players, as he currently has an ADP of 185.2. Considering his solid track record of 20+ homers and the likelihood his counting stats return to form after moving away from Washington's dreadful offense, Bell can be looked at as a value pick late in drafts. His .272 xBA, .349 xwOBA, 15.8 K%, and 12.5 BB% all point to him providing solid production across the board (except steals) in both roto and points leagues. Look for Bell as a solid corner infielder in deep leagues, or as a great backup option at first base in any league.
