Jorge Alfaro Opts Out Of Deal With Boston
2 years agoCatcher Jorge Alfaro is opting out of his deal with the Boston Red Sox and has decided to test free agency, according to a source. The Red Sox have 48 hours to add Alfaro to their active MLB roster, or else he'll become a free agent. That's unlikely to happen, so the 29-year-old backstop will be looking for work elsewhere most likely. Alfaro hasn't appeared in the big leagues since last year with the San Diego Padres, when he hit .246 with seven home runs and 40 RBI in 82 games, but he has hit .320 (56-for-175) with 13 doubles, two triples, six home runs, 30 RBI and four stolen bases in 43 games for Triple-A Worcester in 2023 and could attract interest around the league as catching depth. Alfaro remains well off the fantasy radar.
