Jonathan Loaisiga Starting For Yankees Thursday
7 years agoThe New York Yankees once again looked from within to replace an ailing starting pitcher. With Masahiro Tanaka on the disabled list following a base-running mishap, the club announced that minor league pitcher Jonathan Loaisiga will start on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Rays in the Bronx. The 23-year-old right-hander from Nicaragua has spent this season with the Double-A Trenton Thunder, having gone 3-1 with a 4.32 ERA in his past six starts. There isn’t much reason to believe that he’ll stick around after Tanaka returns, but if he pitches well, he might be a solid streamer for a handful of starts.
