Joe Musgrove Has Strong Start Versus Braves
6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Joe Musgrove was coming off two dreadful starts when he took the mound Wednesday, but was able to bounce back nicely. Musgrove went eight innings and allowed three earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out six. Musgrove still has an unflattering 4.44 ERA on the year and he went into Wednesday's game with a low strikeout rate of 18.6%. His 39.1% hard-hit rate is similarly troubling. He's sprinkled in some strong starts like Wednesday's throughout the year, but he's a risky start going forward. It's advisable to only use him as a streamer in deep leagues when you're in a pinch. His next start will be a rematch against the Braves in Atlanta on Monday.
