Jo Adell 2022 Player Outlook: The Third Time's A Charm In 2022
Jo Adell gets his third shot in the MLB in 2022 after small sample struggles in 2020 and 2021. In 2021, he slashed .246/.295/.408 in 2021 with a 90 wRC+. Adell should open the year as the everyday right fielder and has an ADP of 237. The 22-year-old was one of the game's best prospects a short while back, heralded as a future five-tool superstar. Despite sprint speed in the 98th percentile, Adell never showed much aggressiveness on the base paths in the minors, with 10 stolen base attempts in 339 plate appearances in Triple-A in 2021. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect more than 10 stolen bases from the former top prospect in an entire season, with ATC projecting him for eight per 505 plate appearances in 2022. A high K% rate, 29% in Triple-A in 2021 and 32% for his MLB career, also poses a formidable obstacle in his attempt to fully live up to the prospect hype. Nonetheless, Adell is most known for his power, and he should be able to cut the K% enough to let his raw strength shine through. If he can secure an entire season's worth of plate appearances in 2022, 25 home runs and 10 stolen bases are a reasonable expectation, making him a solid value at his current ADP. Cutter's projections are on board with this assessment, projecting the young slugger to hit 20 long balls and swipe seven bags over 531 plate appearances in 2022.
