Jeimer Candelario Back In Action Against Cubs
1 year agoWashington Nationals third baseman Jeimer Candelario (thumb) is back at third base and is hitting third in the lineup on Monday against the Chicago Cubs and left-hander Drew Smyly. Candelario was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the St. Louis Cardinals with more thumb soreness, but he's back in there again to start the week for fantasy managers. The Nationals are hoping the 29-year-old third baseman can stay healthy and produce ahead of the Aug. 1 trade deadline, as Candelario could be one of the most coveted pieces on the trade market this summer. The switch-hitter is hitting .260/.336/.477 with an .813 OPS, 13 home runs, 27 doubles, two triples, 43 RBI, five steals and 46 runs scored in 86 games in his first year in D.C. A trade to a contender would only boost his fantasy value the rest of the way in 2023.
