Javier Baez Out Again
1 year agoDetroit Tigers shortstop Javier Baez will miss his second straight game on Thursday against the visiting New York Yankees. "He's beat up a little bit and not feeling 100%," manager A.J. Hinch said. Baez is apparently battling general soreness late in the season and needs another day to rest. Zack Short will start at short and hit in the eight-hole against Yankees right-hander Clarke Schmidt. Baez continues to flounder at the plate in his second season in Detroit, and he'll finish the month of August hitting a lowly .175 (10-for-57) with a home run, a double, six RBI, 19 strikeouts, a stolen base and seven runs scored in 17 games (16 starts).
