Jason Heyward, Jake Marisnick To Begin Rehab Assignment
4 years agoChicago Cubs outfielders Jason Heyward (hamstring) and Jake Marisnick (hamstring) will join Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday to begin their rehab assignments, according to Jordan Bastian of MLB.com. Bastian adds that the team's hope is for Heyward and Marisnick to rejoin the Cubs during the series in San Francisco that begins on Thursday. Heyward has been out with a hamstring strain since May 20, while Marisnick has been out since May 11 with a hamstring strain of his own. While Heyward had struggled at the plate this year with a .183/.254/.341 triple-slash line, Marisnick was having a great start to the season by slashing .264/.350/.623 with four home runs, two steals, 14 RBI and 11 runs scored in 27 games. Managers should not hesitate to place both outfielders back in the lineup upon their activation.
